FORD EXPLORER VS. HONDA PILOT
Plenty of space for the family and off-road capabilities define the three-row SUV segment, especially as it continues to evolve. This evolution speeds up a bit now that both the Ford Explorer and the Honda Pilot have received a host of changes to make them two of the most attractive options for families on the go. With rugged toughness to let Canadian drivers overcome whatever Mother Nature throws their way, these large SUVs are perfect year-round vehicles. But which is the right one for you?
To help you choose between the two, we’re putting the 2017 Ford Explorer up against the 2016 Honda Pilot and highlighting some of the key aspects of both. Let’s make sure you have a basis for comparison before you get behind the wheel for a test drive!

In terms of value, the 2017 Ford Explorer and 2016 Honda Pilot are quite comparable, with similar MSRPs and both SUVs getting their power from 3.5-litre V-6 engines. But let’s take a closer look. You get more engine options with the Explorer. The Pilot has slightly better fuel efficiency in the city, but the Explorer outperforms on the highway. It offers more power too, but slightly less torque. It’s a bit of a trade-off either way, but you might enjoy the Explorer’s SelectShift Automatic Transmission which lets you choose between the ease of an automatic or the control of a manual.
When you come in to take a look at the Explorer, you’ll fall for its quick, enthusiastic steering, digital gauges, and “Nirvana” leather seating. We’ll also tell you all about how you are much more able to mix and match features and powertrains, as opposed to with the Pilot. You can get a feel for all this during a test drive with us!
But there are other things you can get a feel for right now! Just take a look at the Explorer; it’s very finely finished with angular looks and sophisticated details to make it stand out on the road. It’s things like this that give the Explorer much value, in addition to more options and power. Come see for yourself and book a test drive today!
